Before the field season 2018 is starting, the Natura 2000 project team had to invest a lot of time and efforts for planning. A detailed analysis of the 2017 field research had to be done. The results were visualized in GIS layers and overlapped with spatial data from the desktop research (published and unpublished literature data). Through this process, the gaps could be identified leading to a more focused future field work.
The project can proudly present results so far. As regards birds, over 4.200 data records were geo-referenced, besides the monitoring of the spring migration through the Zeta valley flyway corridor. The analysis of data on habitats revealed 1.404 records in the database, which were displayed in approximately 400 habitat polygons. For species, 1.527 data entries can be reported, amongst them 15 new butterfly species for Montenegro
